Kobe Bryant Legacy on the court will definitely land him into the NBA hall of Fame, but the sneakers that he’s worn along the way are just as important. Despite being a three-time NBA champion and one of the league’s most popular players at the time, Bryant had no shoe deal. Prior to signing with Nike in 2003, Kobe Bryant took a year off. Before this, he was know for wearing some of the dopest kicks in the Adidas catelog, helping carry the “Feet you Wear” technology era with sneakrs like the KB8 (now known as the Crazy8) and KB8 II (now known as the Crazy II).
During Kobe’s sneaker free agency; 2003 became one of the most important parts of his Sneaker Legacy. After the summer of 2002, Bryant reportedly paid $8million dollars to get out of his Adidas Contract. The stipulations of the buyout stated that Kobe couldn’t sign with another brand until the following year in 2003; thus spawning the year of Kobe Bryant’s Greatest Sneaker Season, which for sneaker enthusiast meant the 2002-2003 NBA season would be legendary.
In honor of his Recent announcement with plans to retire after the 2015-2016 season, lets take a look back at some of the shoes worn on the court during his Legendary Sneaker free agency season.
